Chitra means "The Bright One" or "The Shining One." Its deity is Tvashtar (or Vishwakarma), the celestial architect of the gods. He is the one who forged Indra's thunderbolt and built the magical cities of the heavens. He is the master of Maya (illusion) and form. The oyster covers it with layers of nacre until it becomes a gem.
